In keeping with today's overarching theme, here's a list of a few women I don't know, but still admire:
Eliabeth Taylor-- Married eight times to seven men, mother of four AND an Oscar winner, her bio includes over 50 films (though some of her greatest work may have been done in her White Diamonds commercials: "These have always brought me luck"), she attempted suicide in the name of love, is best friends (was best friends?) with Michael Jackson, owns an almost 70 carat diamond, brings in $200 million per year with her perfumes... and Rachel Dratch playing her on 30 Rock was one of my favorite television moments.
M'Obama-- Princeton undergrad, Harvard Law, first African American First Lady, travels the world at her husband's side AND is raising two daughters all while wearing $400 Lanvin sneakers. Go girl.
Christiane Amanpour-- Recognized or given awards over 25 times for her work in journalism, she was at CNN for 27 years, working her way up to International Correspondent where she reported from, quite literally, the ends of the Earth for 18 years, she's married to the US State Department's Spokesman, was college roommates with JFK Jr, is taking over as lead anchor on This Week at the end of the summer AND raising a son in NYC. Daaamn.
Diana, Princess of Wales-- A princess ('nuff said), the inspiration for an Elton John Song, mother of two AND one of them will be the future King of England, deeply committed to charity work, outspoken and protective mother, all while rocking a $60,000 engagement ring, cleaned out Prince Charles's bank account in their divorce plus managed to keep her home in the palace while dating around post-divorce, perished in a car crash tragically young but has a legacy that still stands strong. And my brother partied with Prince Harry on his last trip to London.
